Pat Stalter of Adel, left, is the Democrat candidate for the third district seat on the Dallas County Board of Supervisors.

Bryce Smith of Adel, chairperson of the Dallas County Democrat Party, issued a call Monday to reconvene the Dallas County Democratic Convention next Monday in order to nominate a candidate to run for the Dallas County Board of Supervisors seat held by Supervisor Kim Chapman of Adel.

“All delegates elected to the Dallas County Democratic Convention on March 24, 2018, by way of the Feb. 5 caucuses are asked to attend a special convention on Monday, Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Democratic Office in Waukee at 540 Walnut St.,” Smith said in a message to county Democrats.

The special convention is expected to nominate Pat Stalter of Adel as the Democrat candidate for the Dallas County Board of Supervisors district three.

Stalter is a retired school teach in the Adel-De Soto-Minburn Community School District and the pastor of the Woodward Christian Church. Stalter and husband, Jim Stalter, have two daughters and four grandchildren.

“Pat wants to run for county supervisor because she believes that our county government is not headed in the right direction,” Smith said. “She is ready to work hard for the taxpayers and residents of Dallas County, listen to concerns and issues as well as learn how to make our communities stronger, safer, cleaner and more efficient.”

Chapman, the third-district incumbent, is seeking a fourth term on the three-person board. Stalter will enter the field with independent candidates Robert Greenway of De Soto and Michael “Wombat” Walrod of De Soto also seeking the supervisor seat.

“All those elected to the Dallas County Democratic Convention are asked to attend,” Smith said.
