A Des Moines man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Thursday in connection with an April 23 incident in which he allegedly strangled a Waukee woman in her home.

Antwoine Darnell Taylor,39, 2221 37th St., Des Moines, was charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding air-blood flow causing bodily injury.

The incident began about 2:30 a.m. April 23 at a residence on S.E. Windfield Parkway in Waukee, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Taylor “had choked her,” according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “multiple bruises on both her left and right arms” that “all appeared to be fresh, as they were deep blue and purple,” and also “bruises on her hands, the inside and outside of her forearms and inside and outside of her biceps,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers “that this is the third time” that Taylor “has become physical with her,” and the officers observed on the victim “multiple bruises and what appeared to be a small fresh laceration” along with “multiple red marks on the right side of” the victim’s “neck” that “upon closer inspection” appeared to be “marks, in the shape of fingers, on her neck,” according to court records.

The officers also observed on the victim “red marks on the left side of her neck, near her left ear, consistent with strangulation by hand,” according to court records.

A warrant for Taylor’s arrest was ordered April 24 in Dallas County District Court and served April 25. Taylor was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 2 in Dallas County District Court.

Taylor was convicted of assault in 2003 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of assault causing bodily injury in 2005 in Polk County District Court. He was arrested for second-offense domestic abuse assault in Des Moines in 2010, but the charge was laterĀ  dismissed in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of assault in 2017 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of assault in 2021 in Polk County District Court.
