The Roman Catholic Diocese of Des Moines has issued the following statement about the hiring of the new principal at St. Patrick Catholic School in Perry, Ms. Kandice Roethler.

St. Patrick Catholic School in Perry would like to introduce the community to its new principal, Ms. Kandice Roethler. She will begin in her new role on July 1, 2018.

Roethler is a product of Catholic education, having graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School in Algona, in north central Iowa. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and holds a master’s degree in educational leadership, K-12 school administration from Drake University. Currently, she is working on earning a Ph.D. in philosophy with a focus on education.

She taught in the K-12 talented and gifted program for the Manson Northwest Webster and Colo-Nesco Community School Districts for a few years. For the last two years, she has served as assistant principal at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Des Moines.

“I have loved my return to the Catholic school system. It has felt like a return home to what I know and love about education,” she said.

“My personal vision in education is that Catholic educators should foster the growth of the whole child” she said. “All students are a gift from the Lord and have a God-given potential they can reach when we are working together as a team to help them grow. At the end of the day, the students and their families are the reason for the school and we should be working to help them learn each day!”

Roethler grew up participating on and coaching swim teams. In her spare time, she can be found cheering her alma mater in football and basketball, cooking or baking.

“I am so excited to join the team at St. Patrick’s and help the school achieve its goals! I cannot wait to collaborate with the staff and help them achieve their professional goals as well,” she said.
