Each year during graduation ceremonies, Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC)  President Rob Denson and DMACC Board Chairperson Joe Pugel shake the hands of more than 2,000 graduates who walk across the stage to receive their diplomas.

While there won’t be any in-person handshakes this year, Denson has been busy signing 2,735 letters, one for each member of the DMACC spring 2020 graduating class. Denson signed a large number of letters April 30, the final day of National Community College Month, whittling away of the giant stack of letters that will be mailed out next week.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t get to see and greet all of our DMACC graduating students this spring,” Denson said, “but I still wanted to personally congratulate every graduate and recognize this important moment in their lives. Each student reached this moment through hard work and dedication, and we’re proud of their accomplishments.”
