An intoxicated Urbandale teenager was arrested for assault early Saturday after he allegedly shoved his father for withholding his car keys.

Connor Matthew Huey, 19, of 16005 Northpark Dr., Urbandale, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault and interference with official acts.

The incident began about 1:45 a.m. when officers of the Urbandale Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 16000 block of Northpark Drive in Urbandale.

According to court records, the officers arrived and made contact with Huey, who lives at the residence with his father. Huey told the officers “that him and his father got into a verbal argument” because he “wanted his car keys from his father, who took them because” Huey “was intoxicated.”

Huey “admitted to using alcohol and Xanax,” according to court records, and he continued “uncooperative and adamant that he receive his keys back,” even threatening to “fight officers if he didn’t get his keys back.”

The father agreed to leave the residence for the evening in order to let things cool down but “when he was walking out of the door,” Huey “put his hands on the victim and physically assaulted him in a shoving manner.”

In response, Huey “was taken to the ground by officers on scene” after he “refused to comply with officers as they were attempting to detain him.”

Huey is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $500 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled to make an initial appearance Saturday in Dallas County District Court.
