A Jefferson woman was arrested in Urbandale early Saturday after allegedly assaulting a Kum and Go clerk, repeatedly biting and kicking the night-shift worker.

Amber Janell Revell, 38, of 302 E. McKinley St., Jefferson, was charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, assault on persons in certain occupations, interference with official acts, fifth-degree criminal mischief and public intoxication.

The incident began about 2:45 a.m. Saturday in the 6900 block of Douglas Avenue in Urbandale, where officers of the Urbandale Police Department arrived to find Revell allegedly “assaulting the victim inside the Kum and Go store,” according to court records.

When the officers arrived, the male victim “was being actively bitten by” Revell, who allegedly “bit the victim multiple times in the hand, stomach and chest,” according to court records.

Revell also “kicked the victim in the face as officers were attempting to detain her,” leaving the man with “open-wound injuries to his hand, chest, stomach and mouth,” according to court records.

Revell “was not known to the victim,” according to court records, and the motive for the alleged assault is unknown, but “a witness advised he was at a nearby bar with” Revell, “taking shots of alcohol,” according to court records.

Revell also allegedly “caused damage to merchandise and fixtures inside the store” that occurred incidentally while she “attacked the store clerk.”

Revell proved no more gentle with the police officers, one of whom Revell allegedly kicked in the “upper thigh with her foot” when the officer “conducted a pat-down search,” according to court records. The officer was not injured.

Even when handcuffed, Revell “could not be deescalated,” and she “kicked the front of a patrol vehicle, causing damage to the license plate,” and “kicked officers while being placed in the rear of the patrol vehicle,” according to court records.

Revell was held in the Polk County Jail prior to her release on her own recognizance. She is scheduled for arraignment March 28 in Polk County District Court.

Revell was convicted of public intoxication in 2014 in Marion County District Court. She was convicted of assault in 2017 in Greene County District Court.
