A memorial service will be held Monday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be in the Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes, Iowa, at a later date.

Everett Glenn Randall was born Dec. 22, 1920, near Dallas Center, Iowa, to Frank Warren and Amelia Bernetta (Grief) Randall.

He attended school in Dallas Center but left during his 10th year to help support his family.

Everett enjoyed his time serving in the U.S. Navy in the South China Sea on the USS Minneapolis during World War II.

He was united in marriage to Mary Jane Weiser at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, June 5, 1946.

Everett worked alongside his brother at Randall Brothers Blacksmith and Tiling in Woodward. He then began working as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, where he retired.

His real passion lay in his love for hard work, machinery, and woodworking. Many of his pieces can be found in local residences today.

Everett was a member of the Peaceful Masonic Lodge 454 in Woodward.

He was a proud grandfather who loved his grandchildren, enjoyed making wine, telling jokes, pranking people, hunting, pickled herring and rhubarb pie.

Everett travelled to every U.S. state except Idaho.

In death he rejoins his wife, Mary; parents, Frank and Amelia; and seven brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish Everett’s memory are one daughter, Martha Witt of Pleasant Hill; one son, Mark (Cheryl) Randall of Woodward; grandchildren, Tyler (Jessica) Randall of Woodward and Alex (Kimberly) Randall of Woodward; and great-grandchildren, Roy, Dean and “Little Everett” Randall on the way.

Memorials will be given to the Madrid Home for the Aging and may be left at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.
