Nearly a year since the closure of the popular downtown malt shop Firehouse Ice Cream, a new store has opened at 1120 Second St. in Perry: a low-cost variety store called Finders Keepers.
The thrift shop was formed on Memorial Day through the partnership of Karl Harris of Bouton and Travis Irvin of Bagley, with help from Kelly Alliss of Bouton and Chantell Irvin of Bagley.
“We’ve got a little bit of everything,” Harris said, sweeping his arm before the orderly shelves and racks of goods — “even the kitchen sink.”
Travis Irvin said the store’s stock is constantly channging, with items coming from store closeouts, unpaid storage units, damaged shipping containers, returns and overstocks.
The enterprise opened its downtown doos June 5, and the owners said foot traffic has been steady with interested browsers.
The Finders Keepers is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Donations are accepted, and so are credit cards. The phone number is 515-419-5608.
