Former Perry man, hiking partner missing in Mount Baldy area

Eric Desplinter, 33, formerly of Perry and Gabrielle Wallace, 31, of Rancho Cucamonga, California, were rescued in 2019 after spending five days in the San Gabriel Mountains in Southern California.

An air and ground search involving several sheriff’s helicopters and several search-and-rescue teams from San Bernardino, Los Angeles and San Diego counties is underway for a former Perry man and his hiking partner, who have been missing since Saturday.

Eric Desplinter, 33, of Chino Hills, Calif., and formerly of Perry and Gabrielle Wallace, 31, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., were last seen about 10 a.m. Saturday, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s office.

The pair were in the Mount Baldy area in the San Gabriel Mountains, some 45 miles northeast of Los Angeles, according to a story by CBS Los Angeles.

Desplinter and Wallace were expected to return by 7 p.m. Saturday, according to law enforcement. When they didn’t return by 8 p.m., their friend contacted authorities.
