GREENFIELD, Iowa — Four person were killed and 35 were injured in this Adair County seat Tuesday afternoon when a tornado devastated the town of 2,000.
The Iowa State Patrol announced the casualties Wednesday evening in a statement. The names and ages of those killed in the severe weather event were not released pending notification of next of kin, the statement said.
The number of persons injured is likely higher, the ISP said, but the number 35 reflects only those patients treated for their injuries at designated alternate care sites. At least 14 patients were transported to out-of-county medical facilities by various EMS services.
