Frances “Fran” Ruhl, 77, of Perry passed away Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, at the UnityPoint Health-Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry.
Frances “Fran” Carol Ruhl was born July 4, 1944, in Storm Lake, Iowa.
She married Henry Edward Ruhl at the First Christian Church in Perry Feb. 29, 1964. Together they spent many years square dancing with the Star Promenaders and taking family vacations around the U.S. with their children.
Throughout her lifetime, Fran worked at many locations, including Perry Day Care, Alco and Principal Financial Group.
She also gave much of her life to volunteering as a Cub Scouts Den Mother, Girl Scouts Leader and 4H Club leader.
However, her most prized role was being a grandmother, throwing annual holiday parties and sleepovers for her grandchildren.
In her free time, she enjoyed reading, gardening, scrapbooking, word-find puzzles and cooking.
In death she is united with her parents, James and Dorothy (Peppel) McAtee; and a brother, James Henry McAtee Jr.
Left to cherish Fran’s memory are her husband, Henry Ruhl of Perry; her sister, Nancy Embry of Council Bluffs; her children, Thomas (Maria) Ruhl of Douglasville, Georgia, Robert (Jodie) Ruhl of Denver and Jennifer (Jamie) Coghlan of Perry; and her grandchildren, Rebecca Coghlan, Emily Coghlan and Jared Ruhl.
