ADEL — Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Specialist Mary Krisco be testing canner lids for gauge accuracy and seal tightness at the Dallas County Fair Friday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“As people begin to see the fruits of their labor,” Krisco said, “ISU Extension wants to make sure our citizens’ homegrown harvest isn’t later unsafe to eat because of faulty canner lids.”
Krisco, a registered nurse, will also be answering food-preservation questions and supplying guests with her favorite canning publications and recipes from ISU Extension.
This is a come-and-go event, and testing will be offered at no cost.
