Gail Ann Delp, 67, of Perry, daughter of Jacob and Carolyn Delp, was born Dec. 12, 1956, in Virginia while her father was stationed there. Gail left this earth Jan. 9, 2024, after losing her battle to stage-four cancer in Perry, Iowa, where she lived for more than 30 years.

Gail was the eldest child of two sisters and five brothers. She and her family grew up on a farm in Grand Junction.

Gail graduated from East Greene High School and went on to continue her education at Iowa State University, where she studied art education.

Gail was a talented artist and enjoyed painting, ceramics and other crafts.

She was a proud Cyclone and never let her family forget.

After graduating, Gail worked for the state of Iowa at the Woodward Resource Center for more than 30 years.

She retired at 61 and enjoyed her retirement for the last six years.

All who knew Gail knew her for love cats, her mother’s cooking (especially tortellinis), the color blue, reading, bowling with her family and friends, playing the slots, watching old British comedies or science fiction, going on road trips with her sister Sharon, being the best, most loving aunt to all her nieces and nephews and sharing her opinion with anyone and everyone.

Gail was kind and loving to all who got the opportunity to know her and experience her love. She would do anything for anyone, especially her family, whom she loved dearly.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Carolyn; and by her brothers, Steven and Mark.

Survivors include her brothers, John (Sherri) Delp of Des Moines, Jim (Terri) Delp of Grand Junction and Dave (Tony) Delp of Carroll; sisters, Sharon Delp of Perry and Joann (Larry) Gooding of Ankeny; and many aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
