Gladys Sheehy, 63, of Perry passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016 at her home in Perry.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Feb. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Perry. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18 at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery at Perry at a later date.

Memorials will be given to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or HCI Care Services and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

Gladys Jean Sheehy was born Aug. 2, 1952, at Perry, Iowa, to Glenn Christian and Genevieve Jane (Vanlandingham) Jacobsen.

She attended school at Perry High School and the Americana School of Beauty in Des Moines.

She was united in marriage to John D. Sheehy at the First Christian Church in Perry April 2, 1976.

Gladys was a self-employed beautician for 40 years. She also taught some at the American School of Beauty and went to the Spring Valley Retirement Community in Perry to set the residents hair.

For several years she was the wedding coordinator at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Gladys was very active person and had many things she enjoyed, such as collecting Fiesta dishes, bowling, genealogy research, knitting, sewing, baking, entering baking contests, bird watching, camping, flower gardening, and she was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, dog lover, coupon clipper and girls softball coach.

She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents; sister, Glenda Jurgensen; and infant son, Jamie Miller.

She is survived by her husband, John Sheehy, Perry; daughters, Stephanie (Ryan) Kinney of Perry, Sherilyn Dunlap of Perry and Staci (Nathan) Drew of Des Moines; grandchildren, Reece Dunlap and Reaghan Kinney; and a sister, Janice (Mel) Sheley, on Montieth, Iowa.
