June 21, 2019

  • A deputy investigated a harassment complaint in the 400 block of Ninth Street in Grand Junction.
  • A deputy investigated a suspicious vehicle in the 1000 block of 190th Street.

June 22, 2019

  • A deputy investigated a noise complaint in the 1000 block of Livingston Street in Churdan.
  • Johnnie Phipps, 38, of Lohrville was booked into the jail for driving while barred, child endangerment, third-offense possession of a control substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Karibeth Baker, 39, of Scranton was booked into the jail to serve a sentence.
  • A deputy investigated an email scam in the 400 block of Hill Street in Churdan.
  • Hunter Egdorf, 19, of Humbolt was booked into the jail on a Humbolt County warrant for fourth-degree criminal mischief.
  • A deputy investigated single-vehicle accident on 240th Street near H Avenue. Edward Goff, 17, of Jefferson lost control of a 2005 Ford Taurus and entered the ditch, causing an estimated $3,000 in damage to the vehicle.
  • A deputy investigated a driving complaint on U Avenue near 110th Street.
  • Michael Olson, 57, of Jefferson was booked into the jail to serve a sentence.
  • A deputy investigated a car-deer accident on 140th Street near J Avenue. Patricia Sims, 78, of Churdan struck a deer with a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, causing an estimated $2,500 in damage to the vehicle.
  • Benjamin Allen, 29, of Jefferson was booked into the jail for second-degree theft.
  • Deputies investigated a complaint of underage drinking at Flack’s River Farm Recreation.
  • Deputies received complaints of kids running on 220th Street in swimsuits next to the river bridge that is one-half mile from Flack’s River Farm Recreation. The deputies received the complaint while they were at Flack’s River Farm Recreation.
  • Deputies received another complaint of people on 220th Street in swimsuits getting into vehicles and running down the highway near G Avenue.
  • A deputy investigated a possible drunk driver on 220th near Street and traveling toward Jefferson. The vehicle was found at the Coble Stone Motel in Jefferson.
  • Ashley McManus, 36, of Ottumwa was booked into the jail for first-offense OWI. McManus said she was leaving Flack’s River Farm Recreation.
  • A deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident on 290th Street, Eva Gerst, 19, of Urbandale lost control of a 2003 Lexus ES 300 and entered the south ditch, causing minor damage.
  • The Sheriff, Deputies, Jefferson Fire Department, Iowa State Patrol and Greene County EMS responded to a single-vehicle fatal accident on 237th Street just east of J Avenue. Ronald Kolbeck, 60, of Jefferson lost control of his 2012 Ford F250, striking the river bridge several times. Kolbeck was observed by a deputy at Flack’s River Farm Recreation. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the accident.

June 23, 2019

  • While the Jefferson Police Department, the Sheriff, Deputies and the Iowa State Patrol were working the fatal accident, a 2006 Jeep Wrangler driven by Bryce Murano, 20, of Woodward nearly struck fire personnel and a fire truck. When told to stop, Murano sped away on Kirkwood Avenue and entered the northeast ditch at 230th Street and Kirkwood Avenue, striking a guide wire to a power pole. The Jefferson Police Department was requested to assist. Murano, who said he and his passenger were leaving the Flack’s River Farm Recreation, was arrested for first-offense OWI and first-offense possession of alcohol underage. The passenger, Breana Parkins, 20, of West Des Moines was arrested for possession of alcohol underage. Murano and Parkins were booked into the Greene County Jail.
  • A deputy investigated a criminal mischief complaint at E Avenue and 182nd Street.
  • A deputy investigated a criminal mischief complaint at the Rippey ball field.
  • Cole Eischeid, 20, of Carroll reported his phone was stolen while he was at Flack’s River Farm Recreation.
  • A deputy investigated a harassment complaint in the 900 block of Irving Street in Scranton.
  • A deputy investigated a civil dispute in the 900 block of 190th Street.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
