June 6, 2017

  • A deputy investigated a suspicious vehicle in the 2300 block of E Avenue.
  • A deputy assisted with getting a horse back in its lot in the 1000 block of Orchard Avenue.
  • The Greene County Sheriff’s office received a 911 call of a semi-versus-tractor collision in the 2400 block of 130th Street. Vehicle one was a 1996 Freightliner semi with an empty grain trailer. Vehicle one was traveling eastbound on 130th Street. The driver was Troy Shaw, 25, of Harcourt. Vehicle one struck vehicle two that was also eastbound. Vehicle two was a 1965 Farmall 656 Tractor driven by Patrick Fields, 47, of Paton. Vehicle one pushed vehicle two into the north ditch. Fields was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Greene County Sheriff’s office, Iowa State Patrol, Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department, Grand Junction Volunteer Fire Department, Paton Volunteer Fire Department and Greene County EMS responded to the scene. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the accident.
  • A deputy investigated a harassment complaint in the 200 block of Lawrence Street in Dana.
  • A deputy investigated a trespass complaint at Ninth and Railroad streets in Grand Junction.
  • A deputy investigated a civil issue in the 800 block of Hills Street in Churdan.
  • A deputy investigated an accident on U Avenue near 215th Street. The vehicle was not located.

June 7, 2017

  • A deputy investigated an abandoned vehicle on U Avenue near 290th Street.
  • A deputy investigated a hay fire near T Avenue and 295th Street. The Rippey Volunteer Fire Department, Perry Volunteer Fire Department, Grand Junction Volunteer Fire Department and Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire.
  • A deputy investigated a hay grinder truck that was on fire on 230th Street and U Avenue. The driver of the truck put the smoldering hay out on his own.
  • A deputy assisted the Iowa Department of Human Services in the 1000 block of E. Railroad Street in Grand Junction.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
