November 19, 2019

  • A deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident on Pearl Street in Farlin. Mavis Sawhill, 62, of Jefferson was driving a bus northbound on Pearl Street with 10 students in the bus, and Mikey Smith, 16, of Jefferson was eastbound on Merriam Street and failed to yield the right of way. The bus struck Smith’s vehicle. No students were injured. A passenger in Smith’s vehicle was transported to the Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Ambulance. Smith’s 2001 Ford Escort was totaled in the accident. Damage to the bus was estimated at $300.
  • A deputy assisted with a medical call in the 500 block of Bell Street in Churdan.
  • A deputy investigated a careless driver on U Avenue near 220th Street.

November 20, 2019

  • A deputy investigated a suspicious person walking on 220th Street near M Avenue.
  • A deputy investigated a car-deer accident on 170th Street near W Avenue. Heather Berglund, 50, of Dayton struck a deer with her 2015 Chrysler Town and County, causing an estimated $1,500 damage.
  • A deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident on 170th Street near S Avenue. James Cayler, 77, of Fort Dodge lost control of his 2017 GMC Sierra, which entered the south ditch, causing an estimated $8,000 damage. No injuries were reported, and all airbags deployed.
  • A deputy located a reported tractor fire that found to be in Guthrie County near 320th Street west of Iowa Highway 25.
  • Curtis Jurgensen, 55, of Perry was booked into the jail to serve a sentence.
  • Austin O’Connell, 21, of Jefferson was booked into the jail for first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and unlawful possession of a prescription drug.

November 21, 2019

  • A deputy investigated a suspicious person on 220th Street near M Avenue.
  • A deputy assisted a motorist in the 2300 block of D Avenue.
  • A deputy took a report of a dog running at large on 270th Street near J Avenue.
  • A deputy attempted to locate cattle out on J Avenue near the railroad tracks.
  • A deputy investigated a dog bite in the 1000 block of 150th Street.
  • A deputy attempted to locate cattle out on 305th Street near 280th Street.
  • A deputy issued a salvage tag on 220th Street near K Avenue.
  • A deputy investigated an abandoned vehicle on Quaker Avenue near 250th Street.
  • A deputy investigated a 911 hang-up that mapped in the Churdan area.
