Guthrie Center man killed Thursday in one-vehicle rollover

Tyler Rutherford, 23, of Guthrie Center was traveling northbound on Frontier Road (N54) north of 280th Street about midday Thursday when his vehicle left the roadway. Rutherford was killed when thrown from the vehicle.

A Guthrie Center man was killed Thursday in a single-vehicle accident in rural Guthrie County.

According to a report by the Iowa State Patrol, Tyler Rutherford, 23, was traveling northbound on Frontier Road (N54) just north of 280th Street about 12:30 p.m. when his vehicle “dropped onto the right shoulder, and the driver lost control.”

Rutherford’s 2005 Ford F350 rolled several times before coming to rest in the east ditch of the county blacktop.

Rutherford was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle, according to the report. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Iowa State Patrol said it was assisted at the scene by the Guthrie County Sheriff’s office and Adair Fire and Rescue.
