Funeral services for Lindsay Brown, 8, and Claire Brown, 5, of Perry will be held Saturday, May 9 at 11 a.m. at the Perry High School Performing Arts Center, 1200 18th St. in Perry.

Everyone who attends is asked to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.

Ben Brown of Perry, father of the lost little girls, issued a statement for community members wishing to pay their respects to his children:

So the memorial service will be limited to 100 visitors, however, if you want to show your support and offer your condolences, you are more then welcome to come and be there. There will be a link posted soon on the Carris Funeral Home site for you to view the service.

The procession will go from the high school and travel down Lucinda Street to Eighth Street. We will then turn right on Eighth Street and go past the elementary school. You are welcome to be at the elementary school as well, to watch the procession go by and pay your respects.

The girls will be laid to rest at the Violet Hill Cemetery. If you would look to watch from the hill, you are more then welcome to as well.

I’ve never been one to try and force my kids to dress up either, so kids are free to come dressed however they please. And I encourage you to let them dress themselves even if they want to wear a princess dress, a Halloween costume or whatever they want.

Memorials will be given to the Brown family and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care. Donations in support of the family — to help defray the costs of medical bills, meals, counseling and funeral expenses — can be made on the Brown GoFundMe page.
