Ilene Cassidy Verwers, 75, of Perry passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at the Perry Lutheran Home in Perry, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Perry Bible Church in Perry. Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 8 from 110 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Perry Bible Church in Perry.
Memorials will be given to Perry Lutheran Home or the Alzheimer’s Association and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care. Online condolences may be sent at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.
Ilene Marie Cassidy Verwers was born June 16, 1943, in Moline, Ill., to Bert Garfield and Ilene Vertha (Anderson) Cassidy.
She attended school at East Moline and Pella High School. She then went on to Central College in Pella.
She was united in marriage to Cordell Verwers in Pella on Nov. 16, 1963.
Ilene worked in the medical field as a CNA, EMT, X-ray technician and phlebotomist.
In death she rejoins her parents, Bert and Ilene Cassidy; sister, Muriel Baines; and a brother, Pat Cassidy.
Left to cherish Ilene’s memory are her children, Dawn Verwers of Memphis, Tenn., Michelle (Brian) Penenger of Perry, Heather (David) Karolus of Perry and Matthew (Shelley) Verwers of Des Moines; grandchildren, Tyler and Breanna Penenger and Dannah, Jaylene and Aleah Karolus; and a sister, Berneice Caskey of Cedar Rapids.
