James Cavner of Waukee

James Cavner, 73, of Waukee and formerly of Perry passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2024.

James Allen Cavner was born on May 5, 1951, in Creston, Iowa, to Donald and Arvilla (Bailey) Cavner.

Throughout his life, James considered everyone family. He was kind hearted and would do absolutely anything to help family, friends and even strangers in a time of need.

He leaves behind many loved ones who will cherish his memory, including his children, Christal (Tim) Chapman of Des Moines, Christopher Cavner, Matt (Candi) Nicolaisen of Maxwell, Melissa Cox of Knoxville, Amber (Adam) Tucker of Urbandale, Nicholas (Mina) Lingner of Des Moines and April (Kristel) Cavner of Waukee; his brother, Donald (Rose) Cavner of Adel; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many friends.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Arvilla Posten and Donald Cavner; his sister, Patricia Landals; and his brother, Michael Cavner.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 1-3 p.m. at La Poste at 1219 Warford St. in Perry.
