Perry's Jo Diw looks for a teammate to pass to against Newton Tuesday. Options included Emma Olejniczak (14), Grace Marburger (30) and Molly Lutmer (30) as well as Grace Stewart (off camera to right). Diw led Perry with 14 points in a lopsided win at Des Moines North Monday.

DES MOINES — Perry had two goals in Monday’s non-conference girls basketball game with Des Moines North: get out with a win and get out healthy.

While the health issue remains unresolved (Grace Marburger left after receiving a blow to the head), the win part was never in doubt, as the Jayettes (2-0) rolled to a 46-10 win.

Perry led, 15-0, after eight minutes and held a 24-0 lead before the hosts scored just before the intermission. After three frames the gulf stood at 34-6, with Perry using a 12-4 edge in the quarter to set the final score.

Jo Diw led Perry with 14 points, with Marburger and Molly Lutmer each scoring 10 points. Four points from Grace Stewart and two apiece from Maddie West and Isabel Saemisch capped the Jayette scoring. Lutmer and Marburger each sank a pair of 3-pointers, with Stewart and Diw also hitting from beyond the arc.

Perry returns to action Friday when they are joined by the Bluejays for a girls/boys Raccoon River Conference set at Carroll. The Jayettes will then return to the court Saturday at 1 p.m. when they face host Des Moines Christian.
