Jeanne Putman, 98, of Des Moines and formerly of Perry passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, at the Life Center Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren near Adel. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 26 from 2-4 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be in the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Adel.
Jeanne Marie Putman was born Aug. 23, 1924, in Chariton, Iowa, to Tonzo Dewitt and Sarah (Downard) Evans.
She graduated from Williamson High School in Williamson, Iowa.
After working for many years, Jeanne went to DMACC.
She was united in marriage to Ralph Eugene at Maryland in January 1945.
Jeanne worked for 30 years at Woodward State Hospital from 1956 to 1986.
She was a member of the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren.
Jeanne enjoyed cooking, crocheting and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In death she rejoins her husband, Ralph Putman; parents, Tonzo and Sarah Evans; son, Daniel Putman; grandsons, Scott Putman and Miles Fredericks; siblings, Gwendolyn Wilson, Arlington Evans and Dorothy Evans.
Left to cherish Jeanne’s memory are her children, Donna (Dan) Birch of Altoona, Richard (Cindy) Putman of Centerville, Iowa, and Robert (Pam) Putman of Riceville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Rita (Nate) Fredericks of Grimes, Katie (Nick) Kintzle of Omaha, Andy (Jennifer) Birch of Pleasant Hill, Laura Putman of Round O, S.C., Leon (Kathleen) Putman of Tega Cay, N.C., Dan (Amanda) Putman of Saginaw, Texas, Theresa (Shawn) Canole of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Charisse (Lee) Drinkall of Adel; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
