  • An officer witnessed a vehicle fail to stop at the posted stop sign at Elm Street and Lincoln Way. The officer performed a traffic stop with the vehicle in the 200 block of W. Washington Street. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Daryn Joseph Mallory, 53, of Jefferson for second-offense OWI and failure to obey a stop sign.
  • An officer removed a bat from the residence at 606 N. Chestnut St.
  • An officer removed debris from the roadway in the 1100 block of S. Elm Street.
  • Mike Wright reported an injured deer in the yard at 1103 S. Elm St. An officer dispatched and removed the deer.
  • Officers were assisted by the Greene County Sheriff’s office, the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department and the Greene County EMS with a head-on collision on 220th Street one-quarter mile west of Grimmell Road. A 2017 Chevrolet Impala, owned and operated by Sharon Bieret of Wall Lake, was traveling eastbound on 220th Street, and a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, operated by Boleslaw Bobolinski of West Des Moines and owned by Barbara Francis West Des Moines, was westbound on 220th Street. Just west of Grimmell Road, Boboslinski attempted to pass a westbound semi-tractor trailer. Boboslinski pulled into the eastbound lane to pass and his vehicle collided with the Bieret vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest in the ditch. Bieret and three passengers, including an infant, and Bobolinski were transported by the Greene County EMS to the Greene County Medical Center for injuries. Both vehicles were a total loss. Bobolinski was issued a citation for unsafe passing.
  • Hermelinda Lazo-Zuninga reported the theft of a check from 1216 Westwood Drive. An officer is investigating.
  • The Greene County Middle School reported a kindergartner did not get off the bus from the Greene County Elementary School. As officers began to search for the youth, the school reported the child was located on the bus and simply had not gotten off at the school.
  • A caller reported a puppy tied outside without water at 617 S. Olive St. An officer is attempting to make contact with the animal’s owner.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County Ambulance with a medical call in the 100 block of E. Lincoln Way.
  • Brenda Batschelet reported being harassed as she rode her bike to and from a retail store. An officer is investigating.
  • An officer arrested Logan Lee Stanley, 28, of Webster City during a traffic stop at 220th and Elm streets. Stanley has an active Greene County arrest warrant for second-degree theft.
  • An officer checked with a female after dispatch received a 911 hang-up call from her number. All was fine and no assistance was needed.

August 27, 2019

  • An officer responded to 602 Rushview Drive for a bat inside the residence.
  • An officer responded to 1000 W. Adams St., #6, for a theft report.
  • An officer responded to 300 American Ave. for a report of an abandoned vehicle.
  • Susan Smith reported a dog running at large in the 700 block of S. Chestnut Street.
  • An officer responded to the Greene County Middle School at 203 W. Harrison St. for an unruly student. The student was suspended and removed from the property.
  • Thomas Oyres requested assistance with removing property from a residence.
  • Officers responded to 803 W. Adams St. on a report of a domestic disturbance. Alyssa Slusser, 25, of Jefferson and Trevor Vanscoy, 28, of Jefferson were each charged with assault.
  • Mike Daves reported several individuals arguing in the 400 block of S. Wilson Avenue.
  • Nicole Silbaugh reported a reckless driver driving in the 300 block of S. Wilson Avenue.
  • An officer responded to 400 W. Russell St. for a bat inside the residence.
  • An officer responded to 102 E. Clark St. for a bat inside the residence.
  • Alyssa Slusser reported being harassed by Trevor Vanscoy.
  • An officer responded to 1108 S. Elm St. for a bat inside the residence.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
