- An officer investigated a two-vehicle property-damage accident in the 500 block of N. Elm Street. A 2007 Jeep Commander, owned by Chad Cummings and operated by Mina Cummings of Jefferson, was northbound in the 500 block of N. Elm Street when a vehicle in front of Cummings’ vehicle, a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, owned and operated by Zachary Wiggins of Jefferson, stopped to turn and was struck from the rear by Cummings’ vehicle. Both vehicles suffered light damage estimated at $500 each. Cummings was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.
- Officers located a vehicle stuck in the snow in the 300 block of W. Head Street. The officers were able to push the vehicle free from the snowbank.
- Lori Finley reported a stray dog at 701 N. Cedar St., #32. The animal’s owner was on scene when an officer arrived. The owner was given a time period to bring the animal into compliance with city licensing ordinance.
- During an arrest Jan. 29 at 806 W. Monroe St., suspected narcotic items were seized for lab testing. Positive lab results were returned, and an officer has requested arrest warrants for Zachary Allen Waters, 21, of Jefferson for first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and possession drug paraphernalia.
