Jefferson Police Report Feb. 28

  • Mike Monagin called and reported a male carrying a shovel knocking on his door at 405 S. Walnut St. Monagin advised he does not have any sidewalks and found this suspicious. The officer did not locate the man with the shovel.
  • Lola Dzuris reported someone knocking on her windows overnight at 308 W. Greenewood Road.
  • M. J. Electric reported a burglary to a utility trailer stored at 806 W. Clark St. Copper wiring and tools were removed from the trailer. An officer located shoe impressions and tire tracks in the area. The officer is investigating.
  • An officer investigated a two-vehicle property damage accident at 101 Ram Drive. A 2005 GMC Envoy, owned and operated by Arlena Hamling of Jefferson, was northbound in the student parking lot. A 2006 Ford 500, owned by Jeffrey Lamoureux and operated by Regan Lamoureux of Jefferson, pulled in front of the Hamling vehicle. The two vehicles collided. The Hamling vehicle suffered a reported $3,000 in damages and was towed from the scene. The Lamoureux vehicle suffered a reported $2,000 in damages. The accident occurred on private property, so no citations were issued.
  • An officer assisted with a medical call in the 1200 block of Southfield Drive.
  • Jodi Ganoe reported a dog running freely in the area of Lincoln Way and Pinet Street. The officer did not locate the animal in the area. He was later advised by Ganoe that she captured the dog and returned it to its owner.
  • An officer investigated a two-vehicle property damage accident at Lincoln Way and Elm Street. A 1995 Chevrolet Lumina, owned and operated by Brenda Martin of Jefferson, was westbound on Lincoln Way and approaching the intersection with Elm Street. A 2003 Chevrolet Impala, owned and operated by Jennifer Bainter of Jefferson, was ahead of Martin and stopped for the posted stop sign at Elm Street. As Bainter began to pull away from the stop sign, Martin failed to stop and made slight contact with the rear of the Bainter vehicle. Martin was issued a citation for failure to obey a stop sign. Estimated damage to both vehicles was less than $100.
  • Chris Anderson reported an intoxicated female outside of 900 W. Washington St. who was singing loudly. An officer made contact with a female outside of the residence who appeared to be intoxicated and had headphones on. The officer advised her to go inside her residence for the evening. She complied.
  • * Officers issued 13 citations for parking–snow ordinance during the last snow event.
  • * An officer requested an arrest warrant for Edward Eugene Goff, 38, of Des Moines for third-degree harassment. The charge stems from numerous unwanted text messages sent to a Jefferson female after Goff was advised by officers to end the unwanted contact.
  • * An arrest warrant was requested for Angela Dawn Beem, 46, of Jefferson for fifth-degree theft. The charge is sought after the completion of an investigation that began Feb. 22 at 106 W. Washington St. Video showed Beem removing an alcoholic beverage from the store shelf and carrying it to the restroom. The empty container was left in the restroom after Beem left the business.
