February 3, 2017

  • An officer responded to 101 Ram Drive for a two-vehicle accident. Two juvenile drivers were operating their motor vehicles in the Greene County High School student parking lot. As one was traveling east, the other was traveling south in the parking lot. A juvenile driving a 2001 Cadillac Eldorado did not see another juvenile driver operating a 2015 Nissan Rogue and struck the middle passenger side door of the Nissan. The Nissan sustained $2,000 in damages. The Cadillac sustained $1,000 in damages to the front end of the vehicle.
  • Steve Brown reported debris in the roadway in the 1800 block of N. Elm Street.
  • Janet Bryan reported an intoxicated female walking in the 200 block of E. Vest Street.
  • An officer responded to 303 S. Grimmell Road and spoke with the resident, Michael Godwin. While speaking with Michael inside the residence, the officer located two reportedly stolen laptop computers. The officer is still investigating.
  • Danene Janssen told an officer someone had been inside her residence in the 200 block of E. Vest Street and moved items around inside the home.
  • An officer was requested to check on tinted windows on a vehicle at 909 N. Maple St.
  • Vince Ratliff spoke with an officer about a significant other possibly abusing pain pills.
  • Melissa Smith spoke with an officer about a civil issue regarding an old vehicle of hers she sold.
  • An officer assisted with a medical call in the 600 block of W. Monroe Street.
  • A motion alarm was activated at a retail store at 104 N. Locust St. During the officer’s investigation, it was determined the alarm was accidentally set off.

February 4, 2017

  • An officer was advised of a strong smell of marijuana coming from an apartment at 903 W. State St.
  • Kurt Meinecke called the Jefferson Law Enforcement Center and said he saw a male and a female fighting outside at 701 N. Cedar St., # 31. An officer responded and spoke with Harry Jensen and his significant other, Amber Revell. During the investigation, it was determined that Amber had struck Harry in the nose with her elbow. An officer placed Amber under arrest for domestic abuse assault. During the arrest, Amber became non-compliant. Amber Janell Revell, 33, of Jefferson was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault.
  • An officer completed a funeral escort.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 100 block of N. Vine Street.
  • An officer assisted with a residential door unlock at 901 W. State St.
  • While on routine patrol, an officer located someone at the intersection of N. Vine and W. Washington streets. The male, who was identified at Nicholas Balderas, raised his middle finger towards the officer as he drove by. The officer stopped to speak with Nicholas about the issue. Nicholas was being disorderly and disobeying the officer’s commands. As the officer began placing Nicholas under arrest, he pushed the officer and began to flee. The officer assisted Nicholas to the ground in attempting to detain him, but again Nicholas was able to free himself and again began to flee. After Nicholas disobeyed multiple commands to stop resisting, the officer deployed his issued taser. The officer was able to restrain Nichoals after the deployment. After further investigation, the officer also found alcohol that Nicholas had stolen from the store at 106 W. Washington St., where he had been served a no-trespassing order in the past. As a result of the investigation, Nicholas Anthony Balderas, 25, of Jefferson was charged with fifth-degree theft, disorderly conduct, interference with official acts, third-or-subsequent-offense public intoxication and trespassing.
  • Bev Batcheller spoke with an officer regarding her neighbor’s welfare.

February, 5, 2017

  • An officer responded to 104 E. Monroe St. for a possible assault. Upon arrival the officer spoke with Steven Dzuris and Rachel Fields. During in the investigation, it was found that no crime occurred.
  • An officer removed a live trap from 803 W. Washington St.
  • An officer assisted with a disabled vehicle at the intersection of N. Elm Street and U.S. Highway 30.
  • An officer assisted the Carroll County Sheriff’s office with locating a vehicle of interest for an ongoing investigation of theirs.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
