Jefferson Police Report Feb. 9

  • An officer assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 600 block of W. Monroe Street.
  • Officers investigated a two-vehicle, personal-injury accident at N. Elm Street and Central Avenue. A 2010 Ford Escape, owned and operated by Esther Knapp of Jefferson, left the posted stop sign on Central Avenue. Knapp’s vehicle entered Elm Street from the west in front of a southbound vehicle. a 2014 Hyundai Elantra, owned and operated by Haven Van Huesen of Farnhamville. The vehicles collided and came to rest at the southwest corner of the intersection. A fire hydrant was hit and destroyed when the Van Huesen vehicle left the roadway. The Knapp vehicle had an estimated $3,000 in damage, and the Van Huesen vehicle had an estimated $5,000 in damage. Damage to the hydrant was estimated at $1,200. Knapp was issued a citation for failure to obey stop sign.
  • Officers assisted a resident in the 600 block of South Oak Street who was locked out of a residence. The officers were able to gain entry to the home.
  • An officer investigated a backing accident in the 300 block of S. Vine Street. A 2014 Buick Enclave, owned and operated by Pamela Thomsen of Jefferson, was backing from a parking spot on the west side of the street and backed into an approaching vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche, owned and operated by Christine Durlam of Jefferson. Both vehicles had light damage reported at $300. Thomsen was issued a citation for unsafe backing upon highway.
  • Brian Hazlicek reported his dog jumped out of his truck in the 200 block of W. McKinley Street. An officer was unsuccessful in locating the black Labrador in the area.
