January 12, 2018

  • An officer secured an open door located at 1801 N. Elm St.
  • Julie Joy requested a welfare check on her adult son at 607 W. Monroe St. An officer located the son, who was fine and had been sleeping.
  • Rose Norgart spoke with an officer concerning a civil issue occurring at 707 W. South St.
  • A Greene County school bus driver turned in a school bus violation form to the Law Enforcement Center. The violation occurred in the 500 block of W. State Street. An officer is investigating.
  • Pat Schiltz requested a welfare check on a male in the 300 block of S. Walnut Street. An officer spoke to the male, who was fine.
  • An officer checked on a motorist with a low tire parked in the 900 block of W. Wall Street. A local business arrived to assist the motorist.
  • Carroll County advised of a semi heading east on 220th Street that was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Carroll. An officer was not able to locate the semi.
  • Sam VanSumple spoke with an officer concerning a civil issue occurring at 404 S. Pinet St.
  • A local clergyman said he was contacted by a homeless female needing a place to stay for the evening. The clergyman provided a room at a hotel, and an officer transported the female to her room.
  • An officer located an unsecured door at 900 E. Highway 30.

January 13, 2018

  • An officer secured an open door located at 600 E. Lincoln Way.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 200 block of N. High Street.
  • Dawn Kerwood reported a careless driver on 220th Street near Jefferson. An officer stopped the reported vehicle and spoke to the driver about the complaint. The officer issued a verbal Warning to the driver.
  • Roxanne Malone reported being harassed by text messages. An officer learned that Malone was a willing participant in the situation and advised all parties to end contact with each other.
  • Deb Beddow requested an officer contact her family member and say the person is no longer welcome at her residence at 207 W. Russell St. An officer contacted the unwelcome and conveyed Beddow’s wishes.
  • An officer checked on a Life Line activation in the 600 block of W. Monroe Street. The person was fine but having phone line issues.
  • Susan Fray spoke with an officer about her vehicle, which was stolen in Omaha. She was concerned they had her garage door opener. An officer advised her to unplug the opener until it could be reprogrammed.
  • Letitia Sutton reported a kitten trapped in the storm sewer at the intersection of Elm and Central streets. Officers attempted to free the kitten but were unsuccessful.
  • A traffic stop at Cedar and Central streets resulted in Donna Delp of Jefferson being issued a citation for failure to obey stop sign.
  • Ethan Wiggins reported a male lying in the street in the 500 block of N. Olive Street. Officers made contact with the male, leading to the arrest of Craig Darwin Presley, 57, of Jefferson for second-offense public intoxication.

January 14, 2018

  • Lori Finley requested officers at 701 N. Cedar St., #32,  to remove an unwanted male from her residence. The officers arrived and learned the couple had been involved in a verbal argument. The male had been drinking and said he could not drive away. The officers gave the male a ride to his residence to end the problem.
  • An officer came into contact with a male juvenile in the 200 block of S. Chestnut Street. Nicholas Scott Weber, 17, of Jefferson was issued a citation for curfew violation.
  • Officers checked on a business alarm activation at 101 N. Chestnut St. Everything was fine at the business.
  • Rosalee Severson reported snowmobiles driving in her yard at 1218 W. Lincoln Way. An officer attempted to follow tracks in the snow, but they led to 220th Street and out of town.
  • A traffic stop in the 800 block of N. Elm Street resulted in Eddie Simpson of Boxholm being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • Kylan Muzney spoke to an officer about charges on his credit card that he did not make. The officer is investigating.
  • A traffic stop at Lincoln Way and Elm Street resulted in Eric Chrystal of Jefferson being issued a citation for failure to obey stop sign.
  • A traffic stop in the 700 block of N. Elm Street resulted in Austin Smith of Jefferson being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • Officers checked on a panic alarm going off at 303 N. Elm St. All was fine, and an employee error was the cause.

January 15, 2018

  • A traffic stop in the 100 block of N. Oak Street resulted in Daniel Pittman of Jefferson being issued a citation for dark windows.
  • Officers assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 400 block of E. State Street.
  • An officer located an open door at 124 N. Wilson Ave.
  • Greg Carey reported the theft of an air compressor at the new McAtee Tire building at 1700 N. Elm St. The compressor was valued at $2,500. An officer is investigating the event.
  • Shelly Gilbertson requested officers at 806 W. Monroe St. to remove an unwanted male from the residence.
  • An officer performed a funeral escort.
  • Paul Oyres requested an officer speak to his young daughter about stealing items from a local business. An officer spent some time with the youth, speaking about possible consequences to her actions by taking gum without paying for it.
  • An officer secured an open door located at 509 E. Gallop Road.
  • Officers issued two Snow Emergency Violation Citations during this reporting period.
  • An has requested an arrest warrant after receiving test results on items seized in a traffic stop Dec. 14, 2017. The warrant requested was for Carter Eugene Fetters, 66, of Jefferson for second-offense possession of controlled substance.
