  • An officer responded to 307 S. Wilson Ave. for an alarm. Everything appeared to be fine.
  • Officers responded to the 1000 block of W. Adams Street to assist the Greene County EMS with a medical call.
  • A deputy with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s office contacted our department and advised they had located a 2012 Dodge Ram truck in a ditch at 4:40 a.m. in their county at the intersection of 190th Street and Dakota Avenue. The vehicle belonged to Renew Energy of 610 N. Elm St. in Jefferson. The deputy spoke with the driver and passenger, Edward Goff and Samantha Cline-Hoskins, who advised they were heading to Des Moines. The deputy attempted to contact staff at Renew Energy to confirm the two should be in the vehicle but could not get an answer. The deputy transported Goff and Cline-Hoskins to Sparky’s gas station at 2325 Marshall Ave. in Rockwell City.
As business hours at Renew Energy started in Jefferson, they realized one of their fleet vehicles was missing, which was the 2012 Dodge Ram. At 11:40 a.m., it was also reported that another vehicle was stolen from the Sparky’s gas station in Rockwell City, a black 2008 Cadillac CTS.
At 12:39 p.m., a deputy with the Pocahontas Sheriff’s office located the Cadillac in their county. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle did not stop, and a pursuit ensued.
The pursuit ended one mile west of Pomeroy on 170th Street around 12:51 p.m. after the driver, Goff, lost control of the vehicle. Goff and Cline-Hoskins were arrested and charged with second-degree theft by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s office. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s office, Fonda Police Department, Pocahontas Police Department, Pomeroy Police Department, Iowa State Patrol and Iowa Department of Transportation assisted in the pursuit.
At 18:53 p.m. Vickie Williams of Jefferson spoke with an officer about the situation. She advised that both Goff and Cline-Hoskins were residing with her at 702 W. Maholon St. Williams said she noticed several items missing from her house. She noted a Sony Blu-Ray/DVD player, Nintendo Wii, HP Smart C7200 printer, a red suitcase, an SD Card, electrical wiring and a Rockford Fosgate Amp were missing from her residence. The estimated loss was $950. An officer spoke with a deputy with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s office and determined these items were in the bed of the 2012 Dodge Ram that the two had stolen and were operating.
As a result, arrest warrants will be requested for Goff on charges of third-degree theft and operation of a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
  • A caller reported a lost wallet.
  • Emily Finch reported a driving complaint on 235th Street east of Jefferson.
  • As a result of an arrest and investigation conducted Dec. 30, 2017, an arrest warrant has been requested for Ryan James Brown, 45, of Jefferson on a charge of eluding.
