  • An officer was requested at 300 S. Grimmell Road for a bat in the house. The officer did not locate the bat.
  • Jefferson Parks and Recreation employees reported criminal mischief to the shelter house at Kelso Park. The ceiling was spray painted with graffiti. It will cost an estimated $200 to cover the graffiti. The officer is investigating. The Jefferson Police Department has stepped up park patrols recently due to the rash of vandalism in city parks.
  • Forrest Shady reported a stray dog at 403 Rushview Drive. An officer placed the animal in the Jefferson Animal Holding Facility.
  • Rod Freeman reported a fight in progress between two males in the 400 block of N. Maple Street. An officer arrived and made contact with both males. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Rickie Eugene Tuhn, 58, of Jefferson for disorderly conduct. After the arrest, the officer later learned there is an active protective order prohibiting contact with a female involved in this event. The officer has applied for an arrest warrant for Tuhn for violation of a protective order.
  • Anthony DeMello reported a possible vehicle accident in the 800 block of E. Lincoln Way. An officer arrived and made contact with one party involved, who said the two parties had exchanged information before the other party left the scene. No accident report was requested.
  • Patricia Coleman spoke to an officer concerning a property line dispute with a neighbor. An officer offered her a solution to the issue.
  • An officer investigated a backing accident in the 400 block of S. Chestnut Street. A 2008 Saturn Aura, owned and operated by Debra Kinsey of Jefferson, struck a parked vehicle while being from a private drive. The struck vehicle was a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, owned by Linda Ross of Jefferson. The Kinsey vehicle had a reported $500 in damages, and the Ross vehicle had a reported $1,000 in damages. Kinsey was issued a citation for unsafe backing upon a highway.
  • A traffic stop at Lincoln Way and Grimmell Road resulted in Eddie Simpson of Boxholm being issued a citation for failure to have a valid license.
  • An officer removed a bat from the residence at 300 S. Grimmell Road.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
