  • Brooke Coffin reported her purse was stolen out of her vehicle at 303 N. Elm St. on the evening of Feb. 28. Coffin later said her debit card was used a few minutes later at Sparky’s One Stop at 606 Highway 30 East. The card was also reportedly used in Osceola. An officer is working to obtain video footage from the businesses in order to identify a suspect.
  • Jennifer Guerrero requested an officer at 800 E. Lincoln Way for a civil dispute over a vehicle purchased from the business there.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 600 block of N. Elm Street, resulting in Patricia Gall of Cumming being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • Aaron Lyons reported a vehicle approaching Jefferson from the east on 235th Street that was all over the road. He said the vehicle was crossing the centerline and nearly struck a bridge. An officer stopped the vehicle in the 600 block of E. Lincoln Way and made contact with the female driver. As the officer was investigating the event, a smoking device was located in a driver’s door panel that contained burnt residue. The officer determined the driver was having a medical issue, and Greene County EMS was called. Future charges are pending the results of testing of the smoking device.
  • Officers assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 1000 block of W. Washington Street.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 500 block of N. Elm Street, resulting in Shiela Rice of Paton being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • The Sacramento County Attorney of Sacramento, Calif., requested assistance from a Jefferson Police Department officer in locating people who might be living in Jefferson and were involved in a two-year-old case there. The officer did not locate the people.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 600 block of N. Elm Street, resulting in Jeremy Henning of Jefferson being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 100 block of W. Harrison Street, resulting in Spencer Whipple of Jefferson being issued a citation for violation of conditions of minor’s driver license.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
