May 24, 2019

  • An officer contacted the sewer department concerning a large pond of water that was not receding in the 500 block of S. Elm Street.
  • An officer issued a parking violation notice in the 500 block of E. Clark Street for parking between lot line and curb line.
  • An officer provided a funeral escort.
  • An officer spotted a passenger in a vehicle who the officer knew had outstanding warrants. Royzell Henderson, 19, of Jefferson was arrested at 222 E. Lincoln Way on a Jefferson Police Department warrant for providing tobacco/vape products to persons Under 18.
  • A caller reported someone dumping concrete near Russell and Mulberry streets. An officer did not locate anything in the area.
  • A traffic stop at Locust and Russell streets resulted in Ashley Tesdahl of Grand Junction being issued a citation for excessive speed and operation without registration.
  • Lora Smalley reported people cutting her trees at 605 S. Vine Street. An officer advised that crews are clearing trees on the right-of-way near power lines.
  • An officer assisted a motorist with mechanical problems at Elm and 220th streets.
  • Officers were requested at 505 E. Lincoln Way for a reported fight in progress. The officers arrived and learned two males were involved in a verbal dispute but were separated by family members. One male had left the event for the evening, and no assistance was needed.
  • A caller reported a female standing in the 300 block of N. Oak Street and screaming. An officer arrived and located the female, who was involved in an argument on her cell phone. The officer advised her to go inside her residence.
  • Cameron Greenough reported the dog he was watching for a friend got loose in the 1100 block of W. Lincoln Way. An officer did not locate the animal.
  • Nicole Palmer reported a vehicle tailgating her on Iowa Highway 4 south of Jefferson as she was northbound toward Jefferson. An officer spotted the vehicles but did not witness any infractions occurring.
  • An officer responded to an alarm activation at 1603 N. Elm St. The officer contacted a key holder after locating an unsecured door to the business.
  • Lyle Robbins reported a male teen threw an unknown object at his residence located at 201 W. Vest St. Robbins said the male then ran west down the street. An officer did not locate anyone in the area. No objects or damage were located at the residence.
  • Jerry Schultz reported a teenager knocked on his door and ran from the area at 804 S. Chestnut St. An officer did not locate anyone in this area.

May 25, 2019

  • A local retail store reported a gas drive-off of $32 from 508 N. Elm St. The vehicle was not located.
  • The Gardens requested an officer at 1000 W. Washington St. for a female who did not belong there. An officer arrived and recognized the female, who lives in the area and has been experiencing mental issues. The officer transported the female to ER to be evaluated by a medical doctor.
  • Kyle Rysavy requested an officer at 708 W. Harrison St. for a reported domestic abuse assault. An officer arrived, and Rysavy reported his mother assaulted him and left the residence. The officer is attempting to speak to the mother and obtain her version of events.
  • Jessica Chrystal advised her father had been assaulted the previous day by a tenant but refused to speak with law enforcement about the event. An officer advised he could not take any action unless her father reports the event.
  • Betty Fetters requested an officer at 407 N. Grimmell Road for a civil property issue occurring at the residence. An officer arrived, but the situation had worked itself out before he arrived.
  • Officers were requested at 407 N. Wilson Ave. for a male who broke into the residence. An officer arrived and located the male inside the residence. The occupant said they were upstairs in the residence, and the male walked into their bedroom after they refused to answer the door he was knocking at. The officer arrested Jacob Mario Lopez, 24, of Jefferson and charged him with trespassing-simple.
  • Tim Martin reported someone riding an ATV on the street in the 600 block of N. Chestnut Street. An officer did not locate the ATV.

May 26, 2019

  • An officer performed a traffic stop with a vehicle in the 200 block of N. Oak Street. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Dalton Lee Weber, 20, of Jefferson for first-offense possession of alcohol by a person under 18/19/20. The officer also performed the DOT administrative action of an .02 percent violation for operating the vehicle.
  • An officer issued a parking violation notice in the 900 block of W. Madison Street for 48-hour parking.
  • An officer issued a parking violation notice in the 700 block of S. Oak Street for parking between lot line and curb line.
  • Michelle Howard requested an officer at 714 S. Oak St. after her boyfriend locked her out of the residence after an argument. An officer arrived, and both advised of a verbal altercation in the garage. Howard’s father arrived, and they gathered her belongings and she and the boyfriend separated for the evening.
  • The Greene County Medical Center ER staff requested assistance with an unruly patient. An officer assisted as the subject was calmed down.
  • Dennis Fox reported a gas can on the side of the street in the 700 block of S. Chestnut Street. An officer noticed the name of a local business was marked on the can and returned it to the owner.
  • An officer checked on a residential alarm activation from 400 W. State St. All was fine at the residence.
  • Michelle Howard requested an officer at 714 S. Oak St. for a civil property issue.
  • A caller advised of an ATV being ridden on the street in the 600 block of N. Chestnut Street. An officer located an ATV in the back of a truck in the area and spoke to the parties about the issue.
  • Tiffany Johnson reported a possible sick raccoon in the 1200 block of Rushridge Road. An officer did not locate the reported animal.
  • Eric Durbin reported teenagers ringing doorbells and running away in the 300 block of E. Park Street. An officer did not locate the pranksters.
  • A caller reported a screaming female walking in the 200 block of W. Monroe Street. An officer spoke to a female walking in the area and playing music on her phone. The officer advised the female to turn the music down.

May 27, 2019

  • A traffic stop at 220th Street and Grimmell Road resulted in Rodney Anderson of Fort Dodge being issued a citation for failure to provide proof of financial liability.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County Ambulance with a medical call in the 500 block of W. Mahlon Street.
  • An officer issued a parking violation notice in the 700 block of Pinet Place for parked facing wrong direction.
  • Brenda Batschelet reported two messages from a female at the ER requesting her to take care of her cat.
  • Cheree Derry reported two juveniles riding a lawn mower in the middle of the street on E. McKinley Street. An officer located the kids, whose father was with them, and he spoke to them about the call.
  • Steven Hopkins requested an officer at 606 U.S. Highway 30 East. Hopkins said his girlfriend made him get out of the vehicle after an argument and left him. He said his wallet is in the vehicle. An officer arrived and learned the female returned and gave him his wallet before leaving again.
  • A caller reported a careless driver on 220th Street traveling westbound toward Jefferson. An officer did not locate the vehicle.
  • Jessie Weaver reported a stray dog on the bike trail near Graffiti Bridge. The animal was not located.
  • Jade Nunez reported a possible no-contact order violation. An officer is investigating.
  • Allen Howard requested an officer at 714 S. Oak St. for a civil property issue.
  • Jennifer Owens reported a stray dog near 300 E. Washington St. The animal was not located.
