May 3, 2019

  • An officer located an open business door at 1108 N. Elm St. The officer secured the business.
  • Pat Ruhnke advised she had received a scam phone call from someone claiming to be with Medicare. She did not give out any information and did not incur a loss.
  • A caller advised of a careless driver on Elm Street southbound from Washington Street. The officer located the described vehicle at Subway and spoke to the young driver about the complaints.
  • The Wild Rose casino reported a female panhandling for money at 777 Wild Rose Lane. The officer made contact with the female, who advised she had no money to get back home to Boone. The officer arranged transportation by Greene and Boone County Deputies to get the female back to Boone.
  • Matt Durbin reported a parked camper obscuring vision in the 400 block of W. Madison Street.
  • Lori Lawrence spoke with an officer about possible drug usage occurring at a Jefferson residence.

May 4, 2019

  • Chris Howarth reported a male following him and yelling profanities toward him as he walked in the 1800 block of N. Elm Street. The officer did not find anyone in the area.
  • Shannon Otterson reported a lost or stolen bicycle from the Jefferson Public Library.
  • Officers provided an escort in and out of Jefferson for the Fallen Angels Motorcycle Rally held on the square.
  • An officer investigated a two-vehicle personal-injury accident at Elm and Clark streets. A 2010 Ford F350, owned by Lind Hilltop Farm Inc. of Marathon and operated by Steven Lind, left the posted stop sign in the 200 block of W. Clark Street and turned south onto Elm Street. A 2019 Harley Davidson Motorcycle, owned and operated by Tanner Lindamark of Stratford, was northbound in the 500 block of N. Elm Street and struck a trailer being pulled by the Lind vehicle. Lindamark was transported by the Greene County to the emergency room for treatment of his injuries. The Harley Davidson was a total loss with $10,000 in damages. The Lind trailer had a reported $1,000 in damages. Lind was issued a citation for failure to obey a stop sign.
  • Leanna Marshall requested an officer at 102 S. Grimmell Road for a domestic situation with her boyfriend. The officer determined a verbal argument occurred, and the boyfriend was leaving for the evening. No action was required by the officer.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 1000 block of W. Adams Street.
  • An officer performed a traffic stop with a vehicle that had squealed its tires in leaving the stop lights at Elm and Russell streets. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Merle Crit Holland, 57, of Des Moines for first-offense OWI, open container, failure to provide proof of financial liability and careless driving.
  • Dick Leedom reported a parking issue in the 1200 block of N. Pinet Street.

May 5, 2019

  • Nathaniel Brown advised of a careless driver on 220th Street heading into Jefferson from the west. The officers located the vehicle parked at 771 Wild Rose Lane and spoke to the female driver about the complaint.
  • Janet Hickman requested an officer at 700 N. Wilson Ave. for an unwanted male at the door of the residence. The officer arrived and spoke to the male, who left under his own free will.
  • Eldon Cunningham spoke with an officer concerning a civil property issue occurring at 400 S. Georgia St.
  • An officer assisted the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department with a call at 501 W. State St. The occupant could see and smell a small amount of smoke in the basement of the residence. The fire department determined it was caused by an overloaded drop cord. No damage was reported.
  • Officers assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 1000 block of W. Adams Street.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation. and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
