November 22, 2019

  • Nicole Gohn called and advised her vehicle broke down near Elm and 220th streets. She said the vehicle would be removed by 10 a.m.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County Ambulance with a medical call in the 700 block of S. Oak Street.
  • An officer delivered a message to people in the 300 block of N. Cedar Street.
  • The Greene County Elementary School reported a suspicious male loitering near the school. An officer spoke to the male, who was waiting to see his daughter, who is a student there.
  • An officer investigated a backing accident at Elm Street and Central Avenue. A 2017 Jeep Cherokee, owned and operated by Sylvia Kunce of Jefferson, was westbound on Central Avenue, and she stopped her vehicle behind a semi-tractor trailer hauling grain on Central Avenue at the posted stop sign on North Elm Street. The semi began to back up, and the trailer made slight contact with her vehicle, causing approximately $500 in damage. The semi left the area. The officer reviewed video from the area, identified the owner of the semi and is working to speak to the owner.
  • Zachary Dane reported a suspicious male following him in a vehicle as he walked in the 500 block of W. Clark Street. An officer did not locate the reported vehicle.
  • Jill Johnson reported juveniles ringing her doorbell and running away at 402 S. Wilson Ave.
  • Austin Gibbs reported a careless driver on 220th Street traveling east toward Jefferson. An officer located the vehicle and performed a traffic stop near Mulberry and 220th streets. The officer warned the driver of the complaint and his driving habits.

November 23, 2019

  • Troy Powers reported juveniles were ringing his doorbell and running from the area of 603 S. Oak St. An officer did not locate anyone in the area.
  • A traffic stop in the 1100 block of N. Elm Street resulted in Sandra Hart of Albert City being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • An officer investigated a two-vehicle property-damage accident at 106 W. Washington St. Cindy Danielson released the parking brake in her 2006 Buick Lucerne, causing the vehicle to roll forward and make light contact with a parked vehicle. The 2012 Ford Escape was owned by Jolene Welder of Bagley. Damage to the Welder vehicle was estimated at $500, and damage to the Danielson vehicle was estimated at $100.
  • The Cobble Stone Hotel reported a person had an extended stay at the hotel at 771 Wild Rose Lane but left without paying $1,068 for the services. An officer is investigating.
  • Susan Cort reported a large dog running freely near 606 Highway 30 East. An officer did not locate the animal in the area.
  • A person brought a stray dog to the Law Enforcement Center he caught near 1207 N. Elm St. An officer placed the animal in the Animal Holding Facility.
  • Juanita Gilroy reported someone broke into her rental property in the 700 block of N. Cedar Street and removed items from the garage. An officer is investigating.
  • A traffic stop near Elm Street and Gallop Road resulted in Joshua Greene of Madrid being issued a citation for driving while suspended and failure to provide proof of financial liability.
  • A traffic stop at 220th Street and Doreen Wilbur Drive resulted in Russell Rupe of Bondurant being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • A caller advised of loud music in the 300 block of W. State Street. An officer located the source and advised the people to turn the music down.
  • An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of N. Wilson Avenue with a vehicle with a dark rear plate and no third brake light. During the stop, officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from insider the vehicle. During a probable-cause search of the vehicle, officers located two smoking devices and seized them for testing. Charges are pending lab results on the items. Eric Grevson of Jefferson was issued a citation for operation without registration.

November 24, 2019

  • An officer performed a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle near 220th Street and Doreen Wilbur Drive. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Michael York Jones, 22, of Castana for first-offense OWI and fail to display driver’s license.
  • A traffic stop at Cedar and Central streets resulted in Zachary Smith of Jefferson being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • A subject brought a stray dog to the Law Enforcement Center he caught in the 300 block of S. Grimmell Road. An officer placed the animal in the Animal Holding Facility.
  • A traffic stop at Elm and 250th streets resulted in Brandt Butler of Baxter being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • Ben Jacobson reported someone burning yard waste near Cedar and Harrison streets. Officers advised Jacobson this can occur, according to city ordinance, between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
  • Officers checked on a 911 hang-up call to dispatch. The person was fine and needed no assistance.
  • Cameron Greenough brought a stray dog to the Law Enforcement Center he caught in the 100 block of W. Lincoln Way. An officer placed the animal in the Animal Holding Facility.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
