October 25, 2019

  • A caller advised of a stray dog near Grimmell Road and Westwood Drive. The animal was captured and taken to the Jefferson Animal Holding Facility.
  • Troy Binkley requested an officer to advise a male he was not welcome at the laundromat at 301 W. Reed St. The male was apparently staying overnight at the business. The officers were unable to locate the male as of yet.
  • Kathy Shriver reported a vehicle parked for several days in the 800 block of S. Maple Street. An officer is working to contact the registered owner about the issue.
  • An officer arrested a female after a court hearing at 114 N. Chestnut St. Beth Anne Laurent, 49, of Ames was arrested on a Greene County warrant for second-degree theft.
  • A Fed Ex driver reported the smell of natural gas near 207 S. Chestnut St. An officer did not locate the smell but advised Alliant Energy of the complaint.
  • Susan Ward requested a welfare check on a female in the 700 block of N. Cedar Street after not reaching her for several days by phone. An officer made contact with the female and learned she was fine. He phone was shut off several days prior.
  • Lila Mart reported the theft of $189 in cash from 1000 W. Adams St., #41. An officer is investigating.
  • An officer spoke to construction workers in the 500 block of E. Clark Street about a vehicle parked facing the wrong direction, creating a sight hazard from the intersection of N. Cedar and Clark streets. The vehicle was moved.
  • Dustin Henson reported two pit bull dogs fighting at 1003 S. Elm St. An officer made contact with the animals and their owner and learned they were playing and not fighting with each other.
  • Bruce Binkley spoke with an officer concerning a civil issue occurring at 306 W. Reed St.
  • Tonya Sims reported two stray dogs in the 1000 block of W. Lincoln Way. An officer caught the animals and placed them in the Jefferson Animal Holding Facility.

October 26, 2019

  • An officer assisted a motorist at 220th Street and Grimmell Road.
  • Julie Okarma advised an officer she had provided her bank and other personal information to a person during a phone call. The officer advised her to contact the bank and close her account.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County Ambulance with a medical call in the 800 block of W. Adams Street.
  • Ritchie Burkhardt reported construction workers said offensive things to him in the 500 block of N. Olive Street. Burkhardt does not speak Spanish and assumed the workers were cursing at him.
  • Officers were requested at 809 W. South St. for a domestic issue. The officer spoke to all parties involved, and a male said he would leave for a while to allow things to cool off.
  • An officer was requested to return to 809 W. South St. for a civil property issue.
  • Fareway reported an intoxicated driver leaving 1207 N. Elm St. An officer located the vehicle and followed it south on Elm Street. After the vehicle left its lane numerous times, the officer performed a traffic stop in the 1100 block of S. Elm Street. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Marlene Eleanor Anderson, 50, of Ralston for first-offense OWI, failure to prove security against liability, driving while suspended and improper use of lane.
  • Officers arrested William Dean Richardson, 63, of Jefferson at Harrison and Walnut streets on Greene County warrants for two counts of third-offense possession of controlled substance-marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • A caller reported loud music coming from the Greene County Fairgrounds. An officer responded but did not find the music loud enough to be a nuisance.
  • A traffic stop at 220th Street and Doreen Wilbur Drive resulted in Caleb Klatt being issued a citation for excessive speed.

October 27, 2019

  • A traffic stop at Central and Cedar streets resulted in Patsy Rudolf of Grand Junction being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • A caller reported a stray dog near 805 W. Lincoln Way. An officer returned the animal to its owner with a verbal warning.
  • A caller reported a vehicle with bright flashers parked on S. Pinet Place. An officer did not locate the vehicle in question in the area.
  • Michael Klauer requested assistance in the 500 block of W. South Street for a female refusing to turn over a handgun. Officers responded and made contact with the female, who provided them with the firearm.
  • Jennifer Ashby spoke with an officer about not hearing from a family member for several weeks. This occurred in Des Moines, and Ashby was advised to call authorities there.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
