September 18, 2019

  • An officer located an open door at 1000 N. Cedar St.
  • Shiena Hadley reported a possible hit-and-run accident that might have occurred at one of two locations in Jefferson. The incident caused $50 damage to the front end of a blue 2000 Chevy S-10 pickup. An officer is investigating.
  • An officer responded to 806 W. Washington St. for a 14-year-old male who refused to go to school.
  • An officer responded to Elm Street and W. Lincoln Way for a vehicle that was broken down.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County Ambulance with a patient in the 500 block of S. Vine Street.

September 19, 2019

  • Ryan Patterson requested a welfare check on his daughter at 505 N. Grimmell Road.
  • An officer began investigating a violation of a no-contact order between Ryan Patterson, 38,  and Nicole Borkowski, 34. As a result, arrest warrants were requested for both for violation of a no-contact order.
  • An officer assisted the Iowa Department of Human Services with an investigation at 505 N. Grimmell Road.
  • An officer responded to the 200 block of N. Grimmell Road for a suspicious male being disorderly.
  • An officer responded to the Greene County Elementary School at 401 E. Russell St. to take a report of a theft that occurred. A student at the school stole gum from a teacher’s purse on several different occasions. The student was referred to the Juvenile Court Officer.
  • Staff at the University of Iowa Hospital requested a welfare check on a juvenile at 505 N. Grimmell Road.
  • Jefferson City Hall reported a theft of services from three properties in town: 902 N. Pinet St., 1006 N. Walnut St. and 702 W. Mahlon St. The city water was turned off at the residences for non-payment but had been turned back on. An officer is investigating.
  • United Health Care requested a welfare check on a male at 406 W. Washington St. The patient was found to be okay.
  • Nicole Borkowski reported damage to a bicycle at 505 N. Grimmell Road. An officer is investigating.
  • As a result of a traffic stop at the intersection of S. Chestnut Street and Harding Road, Benjamin Johnston was issued a citation for violation of conditions of minor’s school license and excessive speed.
  • Scott Carroll reported kids playing loud music at Russell Park in the 400 block of S. Wilson Avenue.
  • Ryan Patterson was arrested at 505 N. Grimmell Road on a Greene County warrant for violation of a no-contact order.

September 20, 2019

  • Stevens Recovery Services reported they were repossessing a vehicle in the 400 block of E. Lincoln Way.
  • The Perry Police Department requested an officer check with a Jefferson female in the 1000 block of W. Adams Street to make sure a male has permission to operate her vehicle. The officer could not make contact with the female.
  • Ben Campbell reported a stray dog at 607 Rushview Drive. An officer placed the animal in the Jefferson Animal Holding Facility.
  • An officer performed a funeral escort.
  • Guy Richardson reported an injured cat in the 600 block of S. Chestnut Street. An officer took the cat to the Jefferson Vet Clinic to be euthanized.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County Ambulance with a medical call in the 900 block of N. Cedar Street.
  • An officer assisted the Jefferson Fire Department with a propane grill tank fire at 201 Briarwood Bend. No injuries or damage were reported.
  • A traffic stop was performed with a vehicle at Oak and Clark Streets. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Joel Robert Simpson, 64, of Jefferson for third-offense OWI, driving while suspended, failure to provide proof of financial liability and operation without registration.
  • An officer issued a citation to Robert Lenchanko of Jefferson for littering. The officer witnessed the violation in the 700 block of S. Walnut Street.
  • Shawn DeMoss reported a vehicle parked under the canopy on the sidewalk at the Greene County High School at 101 Ram Drive. An officer contacted the owner and had the vehicle moved.
  • A caller advised of a possible intoxicated driver at 606 U.S. Highway 30 E. An officer followed the vehicle and did not see any infractions.

September 21, 2019

  • While conducting business door checks, an officer located an open door at 600 E. Lincoln Way and secured the building.
  • An officer located a parked vehicle with its lights on in the Greene County High School Parking Lot at 101 Ram Drive. As the officer spoke to the three occupants, he detected the odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. A probable-cause search was conducted, and an open container of alcohol and a bottle of alcohol in a bag were located in the rear seat floor area of the vehicle. No one would take ownership of the alcohol when asked by the officer. Two juveniles and one 18-year-old male were placed in custody for possession of alcohol under legal age. The juveniles were also issued citations for curfew violation.
  • Dunkers by Matt employees advised of a suspicious male in the 100 block of N. Chestnut Street. An officer spoke to the male in the area, who was doing nothing illegal.
  • Sylvia McCormick spoke with an officer concerning a civil property issue involving a family member who lives out of state.
  • An officer performed a funeral escort.
  • Stacy Biggart requested assistance in getting her autistic child back in her vehicle near Harrison and Walnut streets. Biggart got the child in the vehicle before the officer arrived and no longer needed assistance.
  • An officer checked on a 911 hang-up call from 1000 W. Adams St. The caller accidentally called 911 and did not need assistance.
  • Oly’s Corner advised of an accidental gas drive-off from 208 W. Lincoln Way. An officer contacted a male, who returned and paid for his fuel.
  • Amanda Anderson reported a careless driver on 220th Street, approaching Jefferson from the west. An officer later located the vehicle parked and unoccupied at 777 Wild Rose Lane.
  • Jarrod Rumley reported a subject popping wheelies on a dirt bike near the 600 block of W. Lincoln Way. The officer did not locate the wheelie popper.
  • An officer was advised of two males walking near Maple and Harrison streets and passing a smoking device back and forth. The person reporting the incident said he could smell marijuana as he passed the males. The officer located the two males and spoke with them. Both admitted the cigar they were smoking contained marijuana. The officer seized the cigar for lab testing. Charges are pending the results of testing.
  • Mary Norgart reported a large fire in a yard near Cedar and Washington streets. An officer located a small fire consisting of yard waste. All was fine.
  • Andrew Golay reported he was advised of lights going on and off at an empty residence he owns in the 700 block of S. Oak Street. Golay and an officer entered the locked residence and found everything to be fine.
  • A deputy requested an officer’s assistance with an arrest at 1681 Newberry Ave. The deputy handled all charges in the matter.
  • Keith Conroy reported a vehicle in the north ditch on S. Grimmell Road near Meadow Avenue. An officer located the vehicle and determined the driver had lost control and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to skid off the roadway. The officer made contact with the driver at his residence. Adam Pederson of Jefferson was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.
  • Chantalle Long reported juveniles ringing her doorbell and running away at 507 Hillcrest St. An officer was busy and unable to respond.

September 22, 2019

  • Everette Beebe reported the theft of $3 in quarters from his vehicle while parked overnight at 208 N. Olive St.
  • Genesis Development workers advised of two suspicious females in the 400 block of W. McKinley Street. An officer did not locate the females.
  • A traffic stop with a speeding vehicle in the 1500 block of 235th Street resulted in the arrest of Laurann Joyce Perry, 23, of Perry for driving while barred and excessive speed.
  • Rod Eighmy reported an opossum in a window well at 1002 N. Wilson Ave. An officer captured the animal and released it outside of the city.
  • A traffic stop in the 400 block of S. Vine Street resulted in Xavier Hayes of Jefferson being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • Chris Hallinan requested an officer at 403 N. Pinet St. to remove an unwanted female from the residence. An officer arrived and learned the female was also a resident of the residence and could not be forced to leave. Both residents were advised to stay in separate rooms for the evening.
