Jerry Hochstetler, 62, of Perry passed away Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at the Boone County Hospital in Boone.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. at the Sunstream Retreat Center, 1130 Juneberry Road in Ogden. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m., with family present from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry.

Memorials will be given to family and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

Jerry Wesley Hochstetler was born May 14, 1953, at Milwaukee, Wis., to Wesley Edward and Esther Lillian (Olby) Hochstetler.

He graduated from Luck High School in Luck, Wis., and then furthered his education at the Kingsway Bible College in Des Moines.

He was united in marriage to Sondra Lee Ryan at Des Moines June 9, 1973.

Jerry was employed as a bi-vocational pastor at the New Day Assembly of God in Perry and operated Accurate Construction Services. He recently resigned from being the Pastor at New Day Assembly of God and planned to start working with the RV Maps Ministry, a ministry outreach of the Assemblies of God.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, music, camping and Dutch oven cooking. He was a craftsman, not afraid of taking on any project needed.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Sondra Hochstetler, of Perry; children, Joshua (Melissa) Hochstetler of Panora, Amy (Shannon) Hopson of Colby, Kan., Samuel (Roxanne) Hochstetler of Perry and Bethany (Cody) Underwood of Ankeny; grandchildren, Tyler, Aaron, Jonathan, Trinity, Jessica, Zoey, Lydia, Autumn and Kylee; siblings, Cathy Hochstetler of Boyceville, Wis., Alan (Kathy) Hochstetler of Milltown, Wis., Rita (Dale) Frandsen of Frederic, Wis., Virgil (Karen) Hochstetler of Ankeny and Betty (David) Patch of Spokane, Wash.; and many other relatives and friends.

  1. Dear Family, I’m Pennie Wicklund, husband Carroll, from Forest Lake, Minn. I’m Wilbur-Luella Hochstetler’s daughter. Wes was my uncle and Jerry my first cousin. Dearest Sondra, first, we are also Christians and AOG believers. What a joy to watch one of your videos with Jerry and you singing. Your love for Jesus showed through you’re voices. I know you are deeply saddened by the loss of Jerry, and we cry for you too. We pray that through this time of grief God’s soft and tender Holy Spirit will be nightly and daily with you.
