James “Jim” Coghlan, 73, of Woodward passed away Monday, July 25, 2022, at his home in Woodward, Iowa.
A Celebration of his life will be held Friday, July 29 at 2 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at the Woodward Cemetery in Woodward, Iowa.
James “Jim” Edward Coghlan was born Feb. 9, 1949, in Perry, Iowa, to James Herbert and Grace Evelyn (Carr) Coghlan.
He graduated from the Woodward Granger High School and then attended Northwest Missouri State University.
Jim was united in marriage to Dianna Lynn Songer in Adel on July 31, 1970.
He worked at Oscar Mayer for 16 years, owned his own business cleaning cars for five years, then worked at Service Master for 12 years and Genesis Development for three years until his retirement.
Jim enjoyed detailing cars, driving fast and painting houses.
He liked to be with the boys at the Blue Room and the Woodward Body Shop.
Jim love to watch “Gunsmoke,” “Yellowstone,” “The Rifleman” and John Wayne movies.
In death he rejoins his parents, James and Grace Coghlan.
Left to cherish Jim’s memory are his wife, Dianna Lynn Coghlan; children, James Bryan (Jennifer) Coghlan, Stefanie Lynn (Scott) Dennis and Cody James Coghlan; grandchildren, Rebecca Coghlan, Emily Coghlan, Sydney Dennis, Tyler Dennis and Zachary Dennis; sisters, Cynthia Frantum and Tracey (Chris) Deckard; brother-in-law, Larry Songer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
