John McHenry, 86, of Des Moines passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022 at the Edencrest at Beaverdale in Des Moines, Iowa.
A graveside service will be held in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa, Monday, Dec. 5 at 10:30 a.m.
John Alden McHenry was born July 12, 1936, in Perry, Iowa, to Ralph and Edith Wynette (Morrison) McHenry.
He graduated from the Washington Township School near Minburn with the class of 1954. He later attended the University of Colorado in Boulder.
John served in the U.S. Air National Guard and the U.S. Air Force.
He helped farm and later worked for the National State Bank in Boulder, Colorado.
Jon was a member of the First Methodist Church in Boulder.
He loved playing and watching baseball.
In death he rejoins his parents, Ralph and Edith McHenry.
Left to cherish John’s memory are his cousins, Larry Morrison, Janelle Smith, Beverly Morrison and Phyllis Morrison.
