Joseph “Joe” Ruggle, 91, of Perry passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018, at the Rowley Masonic Community in Perry, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 28 at 10 a.m. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Perry. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 27 from 1-7 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m. and a Vigil service held at 7:15 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry.

Memorials will be given to St. Patrick’s Joseph and Arva Ruggle Scholarship Fund and may be left at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

Joseph Anthony Ruggle was born July 1, 1926, at Conception, Mo., to Alphonse O. and Marie Stella (McCann) Ruggle.

He graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Perry.

After graduation, Joe served his country in General MacArthur’s Honor Guard in Japan.

Joe was united in marriage to Arva Marie Hurd at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Sept. 14, 1948.

He was a milkman for Anderson Erickson Dairy and also worked at Oscar Mayer, IBP and lastly for Meals On Wheels.

Joe was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Perry. He was an avid reader and enjoyed travelling.

In death he rejoins his wife, Arva Marie Ruggle; parents, Alphonse and Marie Ruggle; son, Michael; sisters, Mary Theresa Ruggle and Cecelia Finn; and a brother, Philip Ruggle.

Left to cherish Joe’s memory are his children, Don (Karen) Ruggle of Perry, Jim (Donna) Ruggle of Waunakee, Wis., Dave Ruggle of Austin, Texas, Paul (Dianne) Ruggle of Newton,  Margaret Ruggle of Perry, Anna Ruggle of Des Moines, Dan (Gina) Ruggle of Perry, Jerry (Christine) Ruggle of Perry and Kevin (Kristi) Ruggle of Manhattan, Kan.: 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Ruth and Helen Ruggle of Perry, Leo (Rosemary) Ruggle of Northfield, Minn., and Clarita Penczek of Joliet, Ill.; and a sister-in-law, Jean Hurd of Marshalltown.
