Keith Onnen, 81, passed away in Perry, Iowa, on Jan. 4, 2022.
Keith, son of Mel and Laura Onnen, was born in Newell, Iowa, May 6, 1940.
As a young man, he worked at farming and ranching, spending favorite memories on a ranch in South Dakota, branding and dehorning cattle. Eventually, his work transitioned into trucking from Perry, where meat products were hauled to the west coast and produce returned to the Midwest. He enjoyed working hard and experiencing the reward of that hard work for his family.
He met the love of his life, Delores “Dee” Miller, in Parkersburg, Iowa, and they married in August 1959. To this union four sons were born, Brad (Deb) Onnen of Des Moines, Mitch (Michelle) Onnen of Perry, Boyd Onnen of Perry and Shane Onnen of Perry.
Keith is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dee; his four sons; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Scott Onnen of Bryan, Texas; and sister, Robyn (Howard) Thielen of Granger.
He was a kind and generous husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. The family wishes to thank all those providing care and support during Keith’s illness. A celebration of life will take place in the future.
