Perry landlords are reminded the Perry City Council recently revised the city’s rental code ordinance, and owners of rental properties are now required to register all their properties with the city of Perry prior to Dec. 31 every year.
Failing to register will cost landlords $100 in penalties for each unregistered rental unit.
Owners may register on-line at the city’s rental property-code enforcement website or in person at Perry City Hall, 1102 Willis Ave., 3rd Floor, Perry, Iowa.
The rental permit fee is $25 per unit per year. Rental property owners will receive an annual invoice.
A $100 fee per rental unit will be assessed to the owners of rental properties who fail to register by Dec. 31.
The city of Perry will inspect rental properties every two years.
