Leona Salocker, 99, of Perry passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at the Spring Valley Retirement Community in Perry, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 15 from one hour prior to the service at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Burial will be at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry.

Memorials will be given to Perry Public Library and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

Leona Mae Bennett was born June 27, 1917, in Vining, Iowa, in Tama County, to Claude and Anna C. (Papesh) Bennett.

She attended school in Perry.

She was united in marriage to John Bernard Salocker on June 15, 1939, in Jefferson.

Leona worked at Preibes in Perry for many years.

She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

She enjoyed listening to Bible preachers, watching Tiger Woods play golf, visiting with family and friends, talking about growing up with her siblings and telling stories of them and her parents.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Salocker; parents, Claude and Anna Bennett; and siblings, Gladys Kinross, Evelyn Salocker, Chalmer Bennett, Lorraine Vodenik, Betty Moorhead, Rex Bennett, Janet Steinbock, Mary Ann Nath and Floyd Bennett.

Leona is survived by her nieces, nephews and several other relatives and friends.
