To the editor:

Planning is underway for the 18th annual Free Community Christmas Dinner, which will be served at the Elk building Monday, Dec. 25 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Elks so generously donate their building for this community event, while all the food is prepared and served by our residents and businesses, with surrounding support from other communities.

We served about 425 people last Christmas, the most ever, and this year is expected to be the same.

The beautiful event includes a delicious dinner of turkey and pork loin, mashed potatoes with gravy, dressing and all the fixings, plus salads and desserts, all for free. A jar is available for free-will donations. All monies go to local Food Bank here in Perry.

Please mark your calendars. Join us and see all your friends at the place to be on Christmas Day, all celebrating together.

Volunteers are needed on the 25th for morning shifts from 9:30 a.m. to noon and afternoon shifts from noon to 2:30 or 3 p.m. For more information or to volunteer, call Deb at 515-465-3740.
