To the editor:
It was so nice to read the story about your nurse, Dr. Nicole Nichols, working at Roosevelt Island Medical Center (RIMC) for three weeks. She is right, the hospital was put together in less than a month in unused areas of the building.
We Roosevelt Islanders are proud to be the home of RIMC. We have met wonderful staffs from all over the country. Yesterday, we celebrated the hospital with a salute by the FDNY, NYPD and EMS.
We have more than 150 medical workers from everywhere working here. You can learn more about it on our blog.
I hope you did get to see some of our wonderful city and even Roosevelt Island. Thanks so much for helping us.
Iowa, please be safe. I have been home — and only out near my house — since March 15.
