Lila G. Friemel, 90, of Perry passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022, at Perry Lutheran Homes King’s Garden Campus in Perry, Iowa.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the Perry Lutheran Homes. Burial of the cremains will follow at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa.
Lila Glee Friemel was born Sept. 23, 1931, on the family farm in rural Rippey, Iowa, the daughter of George B. and Hazel Mae (Wise) Ackerman.
She attended elementary in Dawson and graduated from Jamaica High School in 1948.
Lila played basketball, softball, piano and the saxophone.
She also enjoyed riding horses, roller skating, gardening, dancing, playing cards, reading, gambling, and watching college basketball, especially the Iowa State Cyclones.
Lila attended both churches in Bouton, where she taught Bible and Sunday School. She was also a church superintendent for a time.
Lila married Robert Hansen on April 12, 1953, and later married Paul Friemel on Dec. 8, 1979.
A lifelong area resident, she lived in the Dawson, Rippey, Jamaica and Bouton rural communities before moving to Perry. She resided at the Perry Lutheran Homes King’s Garden Campus for the past three years.
Lila is survived by her son, James “Jim” Hansen of Perry; two grandchildren, Scott (Laura Henderson) Hansen of Bouton and Andi (Zach) Dalton of Woodward; four great- grandchildren; cousins, Bonnie Sutter of Manson, Iowa, and cousins Doug (Patty) Sutter, Angie (Scott) Irvin and Kathy (Bob) Walker.
She was preceded by her parents and both husbands.
