Linnea Rose Cromwell, daughter of Vernon William Tingwald and Lenore Marie Hawn Tingwald, was born April 1, 1943, at King’s Daughters Hospital in Perry, Iowa, and died at the same location, operating as the Perry Lutheran Home, Dec. 12, 2017, in Perry, Iowa, at the age of 74 years.

Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 18 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Pastor Charles Compton of Perry Bible Church offered words of comfort. Linnea had one honorary bearer, Master Sergeant Chris Cromwell. Her casket bearers were Ryan Morris, R. J. Berry, Ron Whelchel, Mason Berry, Rob Stiles and Bob Ruggles.

The family’s musical selections were “Sissy’s Song,” “When I’m Gone,” “In the Garden,” “Amazing Grace” and “Goodbye’s the Saddest Song.”

Linnea was buried at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. A time of lunch and fellowship was held at Hastings Funeral Home lounge after the burial.

Linnea grew up in Perry and attended Perry High School.

She was always a hard worker and was employed by Farmers Hybrid sorting corn, the Grimes cannery and the Woodward Resource Center as a resident treatment worker for 26.5 years.

Linnea loved Christmas, which makes her passing at this time even more difficult for her family. She enjoyed Mistletoe, hanging it in a prominent spot where she could regularly steal a kiss from Gordon. She collected many Hallmark tree ornaments over the years.

Horses and cats were dear to her, and their home is filled with statues and pictures of them.

Linnea loved all music, but country was her favorite.

Linnea and Gordon were regular visitors each year to the Old Threshers Reunion held in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She really loved the steam engines.

Linnea was preceded in death by her parents; baby sister, Anna Marie Tingwald; and daughter-in-law, Donnett Boemer.

Linnea is survived by and will be forever in her family’s hearts, her loving husband, Gordon; sons, Rod Cromwell and Scott (Patty) Cromwell, and daughter, Susan Palmer, all of Perry; grandchildren, Master Sergeant Chris (Theresa) Cromwell of Perry; Amanda (Ryan) Morris of Knoxville, Kelli Cromwell of West Des Moines and Angela Keller of Perry; sister, Malissa Matthews of Perry; great-grandchildren, Alissia Morris, Madison Morris, Andrew Morris, Charlee Cromwell, Kennedee Cromwell and Tiernee Cromwell; sisters-in-law, Dolores (Jim) Douglas of Huxley and Shirley Montgomery of Zephyrhills, Fla.; and brother-in-law, William Cromwell Jr. of Omaha, Neb.; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

Memorials may be sent in her name to Hastings Funeral Home, Box 204, Perry, Iowa.
