Lorraine Winger, 81 of Perry died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, at the Rowley Masonic Community in Perry, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. at the Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Perry, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry.

Memorials may be given to the Perry Public Library and the Mount Olivet Lutheran Church and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care. Online condolences may be sent at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

Lorraine F. Winger was born Jan. 20, 1937, in Duluth, Minn., to Carl Alvin and Marian Lucille (Greer) Johannessen.

She attended school at Alborn High School in Alborn, Minn. She also attended college at Mankato, Minn., and the Duluth Business University, taking various courses.

Lorraine was united in marriage to Ivan R. Winger in Duluth Dec. 28, 1960.

She worked at various secretarial jobs and was a trust officer of the Brenton Bank in Perry.

Lorraine was a member of B.P.W., serving as president, and was the secretary for the Weise Foundation.

She was a member of the Mount Olivet Lutheran Church and was president of the congregation.

She enjoyed knitting, reading, crocheting, poetry and photography. She had one of her photographs featured in the Raccoon Valley Bank calendar.

In death she rejoins her parents, Carl and Marian Johannessen; and a sister, Ruth Okronglis.

Left to cherish Lorraine’s memory are her husband, Ivan; son, Eric Alan (Melissa) Winger; grandchildren, Zachary, Tessa and Hayle Winger; a brother, Clifford Johannessen; and two sisters, Muriel Johannessen and Virginia Ludwig.
