April 29, 2019

  • An officer received a complaint of a car trailer with a race car frame on it parked for an extended period of time at Washington and Eighth streets. Officer got a hold of the owner, who stated that he would remove it from the roadway when he returned home from work.
  • An officer met with U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents and released the 44 pounds of drugs that were collected from the take back day. The DEA will destroy the drugs.
  • An officer received a complaint of junk vehicles at a property on E. First Street. The officer spoke to the homeowner and made a plan to help her clean up her yard.
  • An officer fingerprinted someone for a background check.

April 30, 2019

  • An officer had a junk vehicle towed from E. North Street at the request of the owner.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding a phone scam dealing with insurance. If anyone calls and claims to be with your insurance company and wants you to sign something, make sure you contact your company to verify it is legit before doing so.
  • An officer served two junk vehicles ordinances, one in the 100 block of S. Market Street and the other in the 200 block of S. Main Street.
  • An officer was called to a disturbance in the 700 block of E. Sixth Street. It was determined to be an argument between family members staying at the residence. The officer advised all parties to stop arguing.
  • An officer spoke to someone requiring information about a no-contact order the person believed was in effect between the person and another party in Madrid. The officer advised.

May 1, 2019

  • An officer was dispatched to a burglar alarm at the Madrid Museum. It turned out to be a false alarm.
  • An officer performed a vehicle unlock at the Madrid Elementary School.
  • An officer assisted a Madrid resident at the Madrid Laundromat, who was having an issue with a machine there.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident who received two scam calls in a row, one dealing with insurance and one claiming to be from Social Security. No personal information was exchanged over the phone.
  • An officer was informed by dispatch of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on U.S. Highway 30 that turned south on Iowa Highway 17. There was no Boone County Deputy in position. The officer sat at the northern city limits, but no vehicle entered the city fitting the description.
  • An officer received a call about a cat stuck in an egress window in the 100 block of N. Market Street. The officer was able to get the animal safely out of the window and release it unharmed.
  • An officer was dispatched to a welfare check in the 700 block of W. North Street. Everyone checked okay.
  • An officer was dispatched to a vehicle collision with property damage only in the 900 block of S. Kennedy Street. The officer assisted both parties with an information exchange for insurance.

May 2, 2019

  • An officer followed up on two junk vehicles that were served on County Line Road. The owner had removed both vehicles and was cleaning up the rest of the area.
  • An officer followed up with a property owner on E. First Street regarding a complaint about junk vehicles. One of the two vehicles was sold, and they are waiting for the title to be found so it can be picked up. They are waiting for parts for the second vehicle, and it will be running this weekend. The officer will follow up again next week and check on the progress.
  • An officer assisted with a medical call on W. Second Street.
  • An officer assisted county deputies, the Madrid Ambulance and Boone County EMS with a two-vehicle traffic accident immediately outside of city limits in the 2100 block of Iowa Highway 17.

May 3, 2019

  • An officer had a junk vehicle towed from the 100 block of E. Sixth Street at the request of the owner.
  • An officer was called to a suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of N. State Street. Vehicle checked out okay.
  • An officer conducted a funeral procession for Kirkpatrick Funeral Home.
  • An officer fingerprinted a Madrid resident for a job-related background check.
  • An officer assisted with a medical call.
  • An officer responded to a dispute in the 300 block of W. Second Street. The two parties talked through their issues and went their separate ways.

May 4, 2019

  • An officer responded to W. Seventh Street regarding an out-of-control teenager. The officer spoke with the young man for a while and got him settled down.
  • An officer returned a call to a man regarding questions about an upcoming event in town. The officer Googled the information for him.
  • An officer conducted a funeral escort.
  • An officer responded to assist with a medical at the Madrid Home.
  • An officer responded to the highway regarding a dog running into traffic and nearly getting struck. The officer returned the animal to its home and gave the owner a warning for animal at large.

May 5, 2019

  • An officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue on an emergent medical call in the 300 block of N. Locust Street.
  • An officer responded to assist on a medical call after the caller refused to give any information to help locate the patient. The officer located the scene and relayed the information to medical personnel.
  • An officer responded to the 400 block of Ninth Street to assist with a medical call.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation. and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
